About

With this conference we want to make a step towards jointly tackling this challenge, using synergies and cooperating on an international level in the context of climate change, sustainable agriculture and food security. We want to give scientists involved in GRA, FACCE-JPI and CCAFS activities an opportunity to collectively reach out to policy makers and advisors, farmers’ organisations and food industry in order to make them aware of the state of current mitigation research activities and to identify the research gaps and opportunities that would need to be addressed in the near future, in order to achieve countries’ commitments on climate change and on sustainable development more generally (e.g., SDG2 and SDG13).

More specifically, the Conference aims to:

  • Provide an overview of relevant research activities and highlight the need for action to reduce GHG emissions from agriculture and improve carbon sequestration in the context of climate change, sustainable agriculture and food security
  • Facilitate a dialogue among all stakeholders involved (researchers, policymakers, farmer and industry representatives) to identify further mitigation action and research opportunities to be addressed at national, EU and international levels
  • To promote EU and international cooperation in mitigation research
